Edible cookies to hang--holidays

Ingredients:
1 cupButter, softened
1 cupSugar
3 Eggs, beaten
1/3 cupBrandy
1 tspMace
4 cupFlour
FROSTING--OPTIONAL
1 1/4 cupConfectioners sugar
1 Egg white
1/8 tspCream of tartar
Procedures:
1Cream butter and sugar.
2Beat in eggs, brandy and mace.
3Add sifted flour and work dough until smooth.
4Shape into a roll and wrap in plastic wrap--chill.
5Working on lightly floured surface, roll dough out to 1/16" thick and cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
6Place cookies on ungreased baking sheet and sprinkle with colored sugar.
7Use a toothpick to make a hole near the top of cookie for instering string/hook after baking.
8Bake 375°F for 8-9 mins.
