English shortbread

Ingredients:
1 cupButter or margarine
1/2 cupSugar
1 Egg
3 cupFlour, sifted
1 tspBaking powder
Procedures:

2Beat in egg.
3Sift together flour and baking powder.
4Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, stirring well to blend.
5Knead dough lightly until it holds together.
6Roll dough on floured surface to 14" square.
7Cut into 49 (2") squares.
8Place squares about 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
9Prick each with fork.
10Bake in 325 oven 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
11Remove from baking sheets; cool on racks.
