| 1 | Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder and salt. |
| 2 | Cut in butter with 2 spatulas. |

| 4 | Mix lightly until well blended. |
| 5 | Turn onto lightly floured board. |
| 6 | Roll in sheet 1/3 inch thick. |
| 7 | Cut in ovals 4 inches long. |
| 8 | Combine raisins, nuts, orange juice, lemon juice, spices, currants, citron, and sugar. |
| 9 | Mix thoroughly. |
| 10 | Place 1 tablespoon on half of each oval. |
| 11 | Brush edges of dough with egg white. |
| 12 | Fold over. |
| 13 | Press firmly together. |
| 14 | Press lightly to flatten. |
| 15 | Make 3 short cuts across the top of each oval with the scissors. |
| 16 | Sprinkle with powdered sugar. |
| 17 | Place 2 inches apart on well-oiled baking sheet. |
| 18 | Bake in hot oven (450°F) until evenly browned. |
