Holiday cherry cheese bars

Ingredients:
1 cupWalnut pieces, divided
1 1/4 cupAll-purpose flour
1/2 cupFirmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cupButter flavor crisco
1/2 cupFlake coconut
16 ozCream cheese, softened
2/3 cupGranulated sugar
2 Eggs
2 tspVanilla
21 ozCherry pie filling, can
Procedures:
1Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2Grease 13 x 9 x 2" baking pan with butter flavor crisco.
3Set aside.
4Chop ?cup nuts, coarsely for topping.
5Set aside.
6Chop remaining ?cup nuts, finely.
7For crust: combine flour and brown sugar.
8Cut in butter flavor crisco until fine crumbs form.
9Add ?cup finely chopped nuts and coconut.
10Mix well.
11Remove ?cup.
12Set aside.
13Press remaining crumbs in bottom of pan.
14For filling: beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla in a small bowl at medium speed of electric mixer until smooth.
15Spread over hot baked crust.
16Return to oven.
17Bake 15 minutes longer.
18Spread cherry pie filling over cheese layer.
19Combine reserved coarsely chopped nuts and reserved crumbs.
20Sprinkle, evenly, over cherries.
21Return to oven.
22Bake 15 minutes longer.
23Cool.
24Refrigerate several hours.
25Cut into bars, about 2 x 1 ?.
