Julia's hungarian poppy seed cookies

Ingredients:
1/2 cupMilk
1 cupPoppy seeds
1 1/2 cupUnbleached flour
1 tspBaking soda
1/4 tspNutmeg
1 cupButter
1/2 tspLemon rind or extract
1/2 cupMaple syrup
Procedures:
1Heat milk over medium heat, but do not boil.
2Stir in poppy seeds; set aside.
3Combine flour, baking soda and nutmeg.
4Cream together butter, lemon and maple syrup.
5Gradually stir in dry ingredients.
6Blend well.
7Next, add poppy seed/milk mixture and blend thoroughly.
8Drop by teaspoonsful onto unoiled cookie sheets and bake at 350 °F for 15-20 minutes.
