| 1 | Cream butter and sugar. |
| 2 | Add egg and flavoring. |
| 3 | Beat thoroughly. |
| 4 | Sift flour. |
| 5 | Measure 1 cup and sift with baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. |
| 6 | Add alternately with milk to first mixture. |
| 7 | Beat thoroughly. |
| 8 | Add sufficient sifted flour to make a soft roll dough. |
| 9 | Chill. |
| 10 | Turn onto lightly floured board. |
| 11 | Roll in sheet ?inch thick. |
| 12 | Cut with floured cutter. |
| 13 | Spread half of the cookies with grape or other jelly. |
| 14 | Make 3 small openings with a thimble in each of the remaining cookies. |
| 15 | Fit over those spread with jelly. |
| 16 | Place on slightly oiled baking sheet. |
| 17 | Bake in hot oven (425°F) 10-12 minutes. |
