Ingredients:
| 1/2
| cup | Baking molasses | | 1
| | Egg yolk | | 1/2
| tsp | Baking soda | | 3/4
| cup | Boiling water | | 3/4
| cup | Flour | | 1/2
| cup | Brown sugar | | 2
| tbsp | Butter | | 1/8
| tsp | Nutmeg | | 1/8
| tsp | Ground ginger | | 1/8
| tsp | Ground cloves | | 1/2
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 1/4
| tsp | Salt | | 1
| | Pastry for 9-inch pie |

Procedures:
| 1 | Line 9-inch pie plate with pastry. | | 2 | Mix molasses and egg yolk. | | 3 | Dissolve soda in boiling water and add to egg and molasses. | | 4 | Set aside. | | 5 | Stir dry ingredients together, mixing well. | | 6 | Cut in shortening until mixture looks like coarse crumbs. | | 7 | Pour molasses into pie shell. | | 8 | Sprinkle crumbs evenly over top. | | 9 | Do not stir. | | 10 | Bake at 450 °F. | | 11 | 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 °F. | | 12 | And bake 20 minutes longer. | | 13 | Cool and serve. | | 14 | Serves Jim bodle, f-cookin |
