Authentic pennsylvania dutch shoofly pie

Ingredients:
1/2 cupBaking molasses
1 Egg yolk
1/2 tspBaking soda
3/4 cupBoiling water
3/4 cupFlour
1/2 cupBrown sugar
2 tbspButter
1/8 tspNutmeg
1/8 tspGround ginger
1/8 tspGround cloves
1/2 tspCinnamon
1/4 tspSalt
1 Pastry for 9-inch pie
Procedures:
1Line 9-inch pie plate with pastry.
2Mix molasses and egg yolk.
3Dissolve soda in boiling water and add to egg and molasses.
4Set aside.
5Stir dry ingredients together, mixing well.
6Cut in shortening until mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
7Pour molasses into pie shell.
8Sprinkle crumbs evenly over top.
9Do not stir.
10Bake at 450 °F.
1115 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 °F.
12And bake 20 minutes longer.
13Cool and serve.
