| 1 | In a large mixer bowl, beat butter till softened. |
| 2 | Add brown sugar and beat till fluffy. |
| 3 | Add egg yolk and vanilla and beat well. |
| 4 | Add flour and beat till well mixed. |
| 5 | If necessary, cover and chill 30 minutes or till easy to shape. |
| 6 | shape into 1 inch balls. |
| 7 | Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. |
| 8 | Flatten with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. |
| 9 | Bake in a 350 degree oven for 7 to 9 minutes or till done. |
| 10 | Remove and cool. |
| 11 | Frost with browned butter frosting and if desired, sprinkle with pecans, gently pressing nuts into frosting. |
| 12 | browned butter frosting: in a saucepan heat ?cup butter over low heat till lightly browned. |
| 13 | Remove from heat. |
| 14 | Stir in 2 ?cups sifted powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and enought milk (2 to 3 tablespoons) to make frosting spreadable. |
