Ingredients:

| cup | Butter or margarine, soft | | 1/2
| cup | Brown sugar, firmly packed | | 1
| | Egg | | 1/3
| cup | Light molasses | | 3
| cup | Sifted all-purpose flour | | 1/2
| tsp | Soda | | 1/4
| tsp | Salt | | 3/4
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 3/4
| tsp | Ginger | | 1/4
| tsp | Nutmeg | | 1 1/2
| cup | Quaker Oats, uncooked | | | -- (quick or old-fashioned) |

Procedures:
| 1 | Beat butter until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating until fluffy. | | 2 | Add egg; beat until light and fluffy. | | 3 | Blend in molasses. | | 4 | Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices. | | 5 | Add to creamed mixture; blend well. | | 6 | Stir in oats. | | 7 | Chill dough at least 1 hour. | | 8 | roll out on lightly floured board or canvas to 1/8-inch thickness. | | 9 | Cut with floured gingerbread man cutter. | | 10 | Place on greased cooky sheets. | | 11 | Bake in preheated moderate oven (350 °F). | | 12 | 10 to 12 minutes; cool. | | 13 | Decorate with confectioners" sugar frosting, red cinnamon candies, semi-sweet chocolate pieces and currants. |
