Ingredients:
1 cupButter
1/2 tspBaking soda
1/2 cupFirmly packed brown sugar
12 ozPkg. choc. bits
1/2 cupGran. sugar
1 cupChopped nuts
4 Egg yolks
4 Egg whites
2 cupFlour
1/4 tspCream of tartar
1 tspBaking powder
1/2 cupConfect sugar
Procedures:
1Cream butter, brown sugar, and gran.
2Sugar together.
3Beat well.
4Add egg yolks, continuing to beat.
5Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
6Add to cream mixture.
7Evenly spread into a well greased 17 x 11 jelly roll pan.
8Sprinkle choc.
9Bits over mixture.
10Beat egg whites and cream of tartar.
11When soft peaks form start adding confect sugar, 1 tblspn.
12At a time, beating well.
13Spread this over the batter in an even layer.
14Bake in preheated oven 325°F for 35 min. remove from oven and cut into 1 ?in. cut into squares when cool, just score when warm not cut.
