Ingredients:

| tsp | Baking soda | | 1/2
| cup | Firmly packed brown sugar | | 12
| oz | Pkg. choc. bits | | 1/2
| cup | Gran. sugar | | 1
| cup | Chopped nuts | | 4
| | Egg yolks | | 4
| | Egg whites | | 2
| cup | Flour | | 1/4
| tsp | Cream of tartar | | 1
| tsp | Baking powder | | 1/2
| cup | Confect sugar |

Procedures:
| 1 | Cream butter, brown sugar, and gran. | | 2 | Sugar together. | | 3 | Beat well. | | 4 | Add egg yolks, continuing to beat. | | 5 | Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. | | 6 | Add to cream mixture. | | 7 | Evenly spread into a well greased 17 x 11 jelly roll pan. | | 8 | Sprinkle choc. | | 9 | Bits over mixture. | | 10 | Beat egg whites and cream of tartar. | | 11 | When soft peaks form start adding confect sugar, 1 tblspn. | | 12 | At a time, beating well. | | 13 | Spread this over the batter in an even layer. | | 14 | Bake in preheated oven 325°F for 35 min. remove from oven and cut into 1 ?in. cut into squares when cool, just score when warm not cut. |
