Ingredients:

| cup | Shortening | | 1
| cup | Brown sugar | | 1
| cup | Sugar, granulated | | 4
| | Eggs, beaten well | | 1
| tbsp | Vanilla extract | | 1 1/2
| cup | White flour, sifted | | 1
| tbsp | Salt | | 1
| tbsp | Baking soda | | 2
| cup | Oats, quick-cooking | | 1/2
| cup | Walnuts, chopped | | | -(optional) |

Procedures:
