| tsp | Basil | | 1/2
| tsp | Garlic salt | | 1/2
| tsp | Coarse black pepper | | 3
| cup | Precooked beans | | 1
| tsp | Salt (less if beans are | | | -salty) | | 1
| cup | Sm. whole wheat shells or | | | -macaroni | | 1
| cup | Fresh spinach, shredded | | | Parmesan cheese, grated |

Procedures:
| 1 | Using 5 quart pot, heat oil and saute garlic, onion, and celery for 5 minutes. | | 2 | Add tomato juice, water, tomato sauce, beans, bay leaves, oregano, basil, garlic salt, and pepper, adjusting seasonings to taste. | | 3 | Bring to a boil, cover and simmer 10 minutes. | | 4 | Add pasta; cover and simmer 10 minutes. | | 5 | Add spinach and simmer 5 minutes. | | 6 | Serve with cheese at table. | | 7 | Makes 2 quarts. |
