All-day beans

Ingredients:
2 cupDried pinto beans
1 medOnion -- thinly sliced
Chicken
Peppers
2 ozLean salt pork -- optional
6 cupWater
6 Beef bouillon cubes -- or
2 tspDried crushed red chili
2 tspGarlic -- or to taste
Procedures:
1Wash beans and discard any blemished beans.
2In a heavy 3 to 4 quart saucepan or slow cooker, bring water to a boil.
3Drop in beans and cook briskly for 2 minutes.
4Turn off heat, cover and let soak 1 hour.
5Add onion, garlic, crushed chilies, bouillon, pork and bring to a boil over high heat.
6Reduce heat to its lowest setting and simmer tightly covered for 5 ?hours or until tender.
7Add water as necessary.
8Salt can be added at the end if desired.
9goes good with hamburgers or barbecue.
10Also can be served in bowls with a mound of salsa on top.
