| 1 | Toast nuts in a 350f oven, about 8 to 10 minutes, until aromatic. |

| 4 | Chop nuts coarsely. |
| 5 | Reduce oven temperature to 325°F. |
| 6 | Lightly spray-grease a large cooking sheet. |
| 7 | in a large mixer bowl, beat together oil, sugar and eggs. |
| 8 | Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. |
| 9 | Add dry ingredients, anise seed and almonds to mixer and mix until dough pulls together. |
| 10 | Divide dough into 2 equal parts. |
| 11 | Spread each portion of dough into a strip about 3- x 12-inches long. |
| 12 | Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. |
| 13 | Carefully remove each cookie strip to a cutting board and cut diagonally into ?inch slices. |
| 14 | Turn each slice onto its side and return to baking sheet. |
| 15 | Return to oven and bake another 15 minutes. |
| 16 | Remove from pan and cool on a rack. |
| 17 | Makes 3-?dozen cookies. |
