Ingredients:
1 2/3 cupAll-purpose flour
1 1/2 tbspDAVIS Baking Powder
1/2 tbspGrated lemon peel
1/2 tbspSalt
1/4 tbspGround cinnamon
1/4 tbspGround nutmeg
1/8 tbspGround cloves
1/8 tbspWhite pepper
1/3 cupBLUE BONNET Margarine
-softened
1/2 cupSugar
1 Egg
1/2 cupMilk
1/2 cupPLANTERS Walnuts, finely
-chopped
1/2 tbspAnise seed
Confectioners' sugar
Procedures:
1In small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, lemon peel, salt, spices and pepper; set aside.
2In large bowl, beat together margarine and sugar until creamy; beat in egg.
3Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
4Stir in walnuts and anise seed.
5Drop dough by teaspoonfuls, 2" apart, on lightly greased baking sheets.
6Bake at 350°F.
7For 15-17 minutes.
8Cool slightly on wire racks.
9Roll in confectioners" sugar while still warm; cool completely.
10Makes 5 dozen cookies.
