Apple streusel squares

Ingredients:
2 cupFlour
1/4 cupSugar
1/4 tspSalt
1/2 cupButter, plus 3 tablespoons
2 lbsApple slices, peeled, use

1/2 cupBrown sugar, packed
1/2 tspCinnamon
1 tbspCornstarch
2 tbspLemon juice
Streusel topping
3/4 cupFlour
3/4 cupPecans, chopped
1/3 cupBrown sugar, packed
6 tbspButter, lightly softened
2 tspVanilla
3/4 tspCinnamon
Procedures:
1Recipe by: good housekeeping peel, core and slice apples thinly.
2Use a food processor to slice apples, since this makes the job easier.
3?inch slices should be about right.
4preheat oven to 375 °F.
5Lightly grease sides of 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
6Prepare streusel topping: in medium bowl, mix flour, pecans, brown sugar, slightly softened butter, vanilla and cinnamon until mixture comes together.
7Shape into a ball.
8prepare crust: into large bowl, measure flour, sugar and salt.
9Cut in ?cup cold butter into small bits.
10With fingertips, blend butter into flour mixture until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
11Press evenly into bottom of baking pan.
12Bake crust 15 to 20 minutes our until golden.
13Crust may crack slightly but don"t worry.
14Place apple slices in 10-inch skillet.
15Add raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon and 3 tablespoons butter.
16Cook 15 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender.
17In cup, mix cornstarch and lemon juice.
18Stir lemon juice mixture into apple slice mixture and cook until thickened.
19This should happen quickly.
20Remove from heat.
21Spoon apple mixture over crust.
22Break streusel topping into chunks and scatter over apple mixture.
23Bake 30 minutes or until streusel is browned.
24Cook completely, in pan, placed on wire rack.
25When cold cut into 16 pieces and serve.
