Ingredients:

| cup | Flour, all-purpose | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 1
| tsp | Soda | | 1
| tsp | Cinnamon, ground |

Procedures:
| 1 | Ts ginger, ground ?ts cloves, ground ?c shortening ?c molasses 1 egg; slightly beaten sugar combine 1 cup sugar, flour, salt, soda, and spices; stir lightly. | | 2 | Cut in shortening to resemble coarse crumbs. | | 3 | Stir in molasses and egg. | | 4 | Shape dough into 1" balls, and roll them in sugar. | | 5 | Place on ungreased baking sheets; bake at 350 °F for 10 minutes. | | 6 | Remove from baking sheets immediately. | | 7 | (cookies will firm quickly as they cool). |
