Hobo stew & dumplings

Ingredients:
HOBO STEW
6 Quartered Carrots
2 lbsCubed Stew Beef
1 medSliced Onion
1 Clove Garlic
4 cupBoiling Water
1 tspWorcestershire Sauce
1 tspSugar
1 tbspSalt
1/2 tspPepper
1/2 tspPaprika
DUMPLINGS
1 cupFlour
1/2 tspSalt
1/2 tspBaking Powder
1/2 cupMilk
2 tbspVegetable Oil
Procedures:
1Hobo stew: brown meat in hot oil.
2Add water, worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion and seasonings.
3Simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally to keep from sticking.
4Add carrots.
5Continue cooking for 20 to30 minutes or until carrots are done.
6(cubed potatoes may be added at the same time as the carrots, or leftover green beans or peas during the last 10 minutes of cooking).
7Remove meat and vegetables, thicken liquid for gravy and return meat and vegetables.
8Dumplings: sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
9Add milk and vegetable oil to make soft dough.
10Drop by spoonfuls over hobo stew, covering top.
11Cover tightly and steam without lifting lid for 12 to 15 minutes or until dumplings are fluffy
