Quaker's: chewy oatmeal spice cookies

Ingredients:
3/4 cupFirm packed brown sugar
1/2 cupGranulated sugar
4 tbspMargarine
3/4 cupApple butter*
-or apple sauce
2 Egg whites or 1 egg
2 tbspSkim milk
2 tspVanilla
1 1/2 cupAll-purpose flour
1 tbspBaking soda
Procedures:
1: l ts ground cinnamon l/2 ts salt (optional) ?ts ground nutmeg (optional) 3 c quaker oats uncooked -(quick or old fashioned) : l c raisins/diced dried mixed fruit
2heat oven to 350°F.
3Lightly spray cookie sheet with no-stick cooking spray.
4Beat together sugars and margarine until well blended.
5Add apple butter, egg whites, milk and vanilla; beat well.
6Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg; mix well.
7Stir in oats and raisins; mix well.
8(dough will be moist).
9Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheet.
10Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
11Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack.
12Cool completely.
13Store in tightly covered container.
14* apple butter is usually available in your supermarket"s jam & jelly section.
15convenient bar cookies: spread dough onto bottom of ungreased 9x13-inch baking pan.
16Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
17Cool completely; cut into bars.
18Store tightly covered.
