Selma's best oatmeal cookies

Ingredients:
1 cupShortening
1 cupSugar
1/2 cupBrown sugar
1 Egg, beaten
1 1/2 cupFlour
1 tspBaking soda
1 tspCinnamon
1 1/2 cupQuick rolled oats
3/4 cupFinely crushed walnuts or
-pecans
1 tspVanilla
Procedures:
1Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar together.
2Add the egg.
3In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, soda and cinnamon.
4Add it to the shortening mixture.
5Then, add the oats, nuts and vanilla.
6Mix well.
7Chill for an hour.
8Shape enough dough to make about the size of a walnut and place on a greased cookie sheet.
9Butter the bottom of a small glass, dip it in sugar and flatten out each dough ball.
10You don"t need to rebutter the glass bottom, just resugar it each time.
11Bake at 350 °F for 10 minutes
