Petticoat tails (can be rolled & cutout)

Ingredients:
2 cupBUTTER
2 cupPOWDERED SUGAR, SIFTED
2 tspVANILLA
1/2 tspSALT
4 1/2 cupFLOUR
Procedures:
1Mix butter, sugar and flavoring together well.
2Sift flour and measure.
3Mix flour and salt.
4Mix with hands.
5Mold in rolls, 2" across.
6Wrap in waxed paper, chill overnight, or several hours.
7Heat oven to 400°F.
8Cut dough into 1/8" slices.
9Place on ungreased baking sheet a little bit apart.
10Note: roll dough in colored sugar for a better tasting and better looking
