Ingredients:
1 1/2 cupButter or margarine
1 1/2 cupSugar
1/2 cupMolasses
1/4 cupBrandy
8 Drops anise oil
1 tspVanilla extract
5 1/4 cupFlour
1 tspBaking powder
1/2 tspBaking soda
2 tspCinnamon
1/2 tspCloves
1/2 tspBlack pepper
Powdered sugar
Procedures:
1Cream butter and gradually beat in sugar.
2Add molasses, brandy, anise oil, and vanilla.
3mix flour with baking powder, soda, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper.
4Add to butter mixture and mix well.
5press dough into waxed paper-lined 7x12-inch pan.
6Cover and refrigerate overnight or up to 3 days.
7invert pan on board and remove paper.
8Cut into 8 bars, 1 ?inches wide.
9Slice bars into ?inch wide slices.
10put on buttered cookie sheet and bake about 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
11Remove from pan and dredge in powdered sugar while still hot.
12Store in airtight container.
