Ingredients:
20 ozDark Karo Corn Syrup
2 cupWhite granulated sugar
1 cupButter plus 1 cup lard
--OR--
2 cupCrisco
1 tspSalt
4 Eggs, beaten slightly
1 cupButtermilk
3 tspBaking soda
1 tspAnise oil
1 tspCinnamon
1/2 tspCloves
1/3 tspGinger
2 cupFinely chopped nuts
10 cupFlour
Procedures:
1Boil the karo syrup for 2 minutes, and then add the sugar, butter, and salt.
2Stir until sugar and shortening are melted, then cool.
3When cool, add remaining ingredients (except flour).
4Add flour in increments until dough is very stiff.
5Chill thoroughly (can even be frozen).
6roll chilled dough into rolls about the width of a finger.
7Cut with a knife into small "pillows".
8Pat pillows flat and bake in moderate oven (350 degrees? ~- time is unknown so i"d have to guess maybe 8-10 minutes.
