| 1 | Cream shortening and sugar. |

| 4 | Measure ?cup and sift with cream of tartar, salt, and baking soda. |

| 7 | Add stiffly beaten egg whites and flavoring. |
| 8 | Add sufficient flour to make a soft dough. |
| 9 | Turn onto lightly floured board. |
| 10 | Roll in sheet 1/8 inch thick. |
| 11 | Cut with floured cutter. |
| 12 | Place on slightly oiled baking sheet. |
| 13 | Bake in hot oven (400°F) about 10 minutes. |
