Ingredients:

| cup | Flour (reserve ?cup) | | 2
| tsp | Baking powder | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 3/4
| cup | Blueberries, wild or frozen | | 1/2
| cup | Shortening | | 1
| cup | Sugar | | 1 1/2
| tsp | Lemon rind, grated | | 1
| | Egg | | 1/4
| cup | Milk (more if 2 c flour used |

Procedures:
| 1 | Combine flour, baking powder and salt. | | 2 | Stir in blueberries. | | 3 | Do not thaw if using frozen berries. | | 4 | Cream shortening until soft, gradually beat in sugar then lemon rind and egg. | | 5 | Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating until smooth after each addition. | | 6 | (frozen blueberries could be folded in quickly at the end - the dough turns purple as they thaw). | | 7 | Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. | | 8 | Bake at 375°F for 10-12 min or until lightly browned. | | 9 | Source was a library book of native and country recipes |
