Cherry pudding cake

Ingredients:
16 ozRed cherries, unsweetened
1 cupSugar
1 cupFlour
1 tspSoda
1 tspCinnamon
1/8 tspSalt
1/2 cupPecans, chopped
1 Egg, beaten
1 tbspButter, melted
1 1/2 tbspCornstarch
1/4 tspSalt
1/2 cupSugar
1 tbspButter
Procedures:
1Drain cherries, reserving liquid.
2Mix 1 cup sugar, flour, soda, cinnamon, 1/8 tsp. salt, and pecans in small bowl.
3Combine egg, cherries, and 1 tablespoon butter in medium bowl.
4Stir in flour mixture pour into lightly greased 9x12-inch baking dish.
5Bake at 350 °F for 45 minutes.
6Add enough water to reserved cherry liquid to equal 1 cup.
7Combine with cornstarch, ?tsp. salt, and ?cup sugar in saucepan.
8Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
9Stir in 1 tablespoon butter until melted.
10Cut cake into squares to serve; spoon sauce over cake.
11Garnish with whipped cream.
