Homemade chocolate chocolate-chip ice cream

Ingredients:
3 cupHalf & Half OR
4 cupLight cream
4 1/2 cupHeavy cream OR
4 cupHeavy cream
4 1/2 cupMilk OR
4 cupMilk
2 1/2 cupSugar
2/5 tspSalt
1 Vanilla bean** OR
3 tbspVanilla extract
3/4 cupUnsweetened cocoa
3 tbspUnsalted butter
1 1/2 tspAlmond extract
6 ozSemi-sweet mini-chips
Procedures:
1**if using vanilla bean, split pod and scrape out inside.
2Cut up pod and use entire bean.
3Over medium heat, combine half & half (or light cream), milk, sugar & salt.
4As mixture starts heating, add in vanilla, cocoa, butter, & almond extract.
5Heat until almost ready to boil.
6Remove from heat and chill.
7When ready to freeze, stir mixture, strain, and add heavy cream.
8Freeze in crank style freezer.
9When half frozen, add mini-chips makes about 1 gallon
