Apple-cinnamon baked french toast

Ingredients:
1 lbsLoaf French bread
Nonstick cooking spray
8 largeEggs, slightly beaten
3 1/2 cupSkim milk
1 cupSugar, divided
1 tbspVanilla extract
6 medApples, peel/core/thin slice
3 tspGround cinnamon
1 tspGround nutmeg
1 tbspButter
Procedures:
1Slice bread into 1 ?inch slices.
2Coat a 9-by-13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray and tightly pack bread into pan.
3In a large bowl, stir together eggs, milk, ?cup sugar and the vanilla.
4Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread slices.
5Evenly distribute apple slices over bread.
6Top with remaining egg mixture.
7In a small bowl combine remaining ?cup sugar, the cinnamon and nutmeg.
8Sprinkle over apples.
9Dot with butter.
10Cover and refrigerate overnight.
11The next day, uncover pan and bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 1 hour.
12Remove from oven and let stand for 10 to 15 minutes.
13Cut into squares and serve warm
