Gumdrop bread

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cupFlour
1 1/4 cupButtermilk
1/2 cupSugar
1/2 cupPacked brown sugar
1/4 cupShortening
2 Eggs
3 tspBaking powder
1 tspSalt
1 tspVanilla
1/2 tspBaking soda
1 cupSmall gumdrops cut into ?/td>
1/2 cupChopped nuts
Procedures:
1Beat all ingredients except gumdrops and nut in a large mixer bowl on low speed for 15 seconds.
2Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
3Stir in gumdrops and nuts.
4Pour into a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan that has been greased on the bottom only.
5Bake at 350f for 60 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
6Loosen sides of loaf from the pan.
7Remove bread from the pan and cool completely on wire rack.
8For best results, wrap and refrigerate at least 24 hours before slicing.
9Refrigerate no longer than 1 week
