Maple-walnut crunch waffles

Ingredients:
2 largeEggs
1/2 cupMaple syrup
1 1/2 cupButtermilk
2 cupAll-purpose flour
1 1/2 tspBaking powder
1/2 tspBaking soda
1/4 tspSalt
1/3 cupVegetable shortening
1/2 cupBlack walnuts
Margarine
Cinnamon sugar
Procedures:
1* cinnamon sugar is made by combining ?cup sugar with ?teaspoon cinnamon.
2Store in container with lid.
3Preheat waffle iron according to directions.
4Fit the steel knife blade into the work bowl of a food processor.
5Combine eggs, syrup, buttermilk, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, shortening and walnuts in the bowl.
6Process until batter is light and airy, only about 5 seconds.
7Scrape down sides of bowl and process about 2 seconds more.
8Pour 1/3 of the batter at a time into the center of preheated waffle iron.
9Bake according to manufacturer"s instructions or until steaming stops, which takes about 5 minutes.
10Remove waffles carefully.
11Top with margarine and cinnamon sugar.
12This recipe makes 3 large waffles.
