Ingredients:
1/2 cupButter
1 cupSugar
3 Eggs
2 cupFlour, all-purpose
1 tbspBaking powder
1/2 tbspSalt
1/2 tbspCinnamon, ground
1/4 tbspNutmeg, ground
1 cupApplesauce
1/4 cupDark molasses (treacle)
1 cupRaisins
1/2 cupNuts, chopped
Procedures:
1Preheat oven to 350 °F.
2In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; set aside.
5Combine applesauce and molasses.
6Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce mixture to egg mixture.
7Fold in raisins and nuts.
8Pour into a greased 9 ?x 5 ?x 2 ?inch loaf pan.
9Bake at 350 °F.
10For 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
11Cool 10 minutes, remove from pan and continue cooling on a wire rack.
12Notes: * a simple, fragrant, apple-nut raisin bread -- i found this recipe on the back of a label for a baking loaf pan.
13It is easy to make and because of the molasses it is very fragrant while baking.
14Yield: 1 large loaf.
