Ingredients:

| cup | All-purpose flour | | 1/4
| tsp | Mace | | 2
| tbsp | Chilled butter | | | MUFFIN | | 1 3/4
| cup | All-purpose flour | | 3/4
| tsp | Salt | | 1/4
| cup | Sugar | | 2
| tsp | Baking powder | | 1/2
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 2
| | Eggs | | 3/4
| cup | Milk | | 4
| tbsp | Melted butter | | 1/2
| cup | Chopped apple |

Procedures:
| 1 | Grease 12-muffin cups or line with paper. | | 2 | For topping, combine all ingredients and rub together with fingertips until completely blended. | | 3 | Set aside. | | 4 | For muffin mix, combine dry ingredients in a bowl or on wax paper and stir to combine. | | 5 | Beat eggs in a medium bowl. | | 6 | Beat in milk and butter. | | 7 | Add dry ingredients and give 10 or so vigorous strokes. | | 8 | Add apple pieces and stir a few more times. | | 9 | Put a spoonful of batter into each muffin cup, divide half the topping among the muffins, spoon on remaining batter, then sprinkle with remaining topping. | | 10 | Bake at 400 °F for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. | | 11 | Assorted recipes from the detroit news, entered by diane pah |
