Hazelnut fried mushrooms

Ingredients:
2 Eggs
1/2 tspSalt
1/8 tspPepper
1/8 tspNutmeg
1/3 cupGround hazelnuts
-- (1-?oz. = 1/3 cup)
1/2 cupFine dry bread crumbs
1 lbsMushrooms, washed and dried
Shortening for deep frying
-- (solid all-vegetable)
Procedures:
1Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
2In small bowl, slightly beat eggs with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
3In separate bowl, mix together oregon hazelnuts and bread crumbs.
4Dip mushrooms in egg mixture, then coat with oregon hazelnut mixture.
5Heat shortening to 365 in deep pan and fry mushrooms, a few at a time, 6 to 7 minutes, or until golden brown on all sides.
6Drain on paper towel and sprinkle with additional salt, if desired.
