Herb butter/cocktail spread

Ingredients:
1/4 cupCold butter or margarine
-cut in three pieces
1/4 cupFresh parsley leaves, washed
-and dried well
2 smallCloves of garlic
1/2 tspSalt
1 8 oz pkg. cream cheese, cut
-in pieces
Procedures:
1Cracked peppercorns or chopped nuts if making cheese ball process garlic and parsley with metal chopping blade.
2Drop pieces of butter into food processor.
3Process.
4Drop pieces of cream cheese into processor and run about 20 seconds.
5Season to taste with salt.
6Shape mixture into a flattened ball.
7Roll into cracked peppercorns or chopped nuts.
8Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and chill for several hours, until firm.
9Serve with assorted crackers.
10Note: if you prefer, do not roll in nuts or peppercorns.
11Just chill in a bowl and serve as a spread rather than a cheese ball
