Ingredients:
1 cupWhole wheat flour (5 ?oz)
1 cupBread flour (5 ?oz)
1 tbspDry milk
1/2 tspSalt
1 tbspShortening
2 tbspMolasses
3/5 cupWater (5 fl.oz)
1 tspDry yeast
TOPPINGS:
1 Egg, beaten
3/4 tbspBlack sesame seeds(optional)
1/4 cupCoarse salt (optional)
Procedures:
1Place first 5 ingredients inside the bread pan.
2Add molasses and water.
3Close cover and place dry yeast into the yeast holder.
4Select: whole wheat dough mode.
5Press start.
6(breadmaker completes the basic dough mode 3 hours and 15 minutes later) Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.
7Roll each portion on a lightly floured surface into a ball.
8Cover with a plastic wrap and rest for 20 minutes.
9Using the palm of the hand, roll each unit on a lightly floured surface into a rope of about 10 inches long.
10Twist once where the dough overlaps.
11Lift ends across to opposite edges.
12Tuck ends under.
13Place on a greased baking pan.
14Spray water on top.
15Proof at 90 °F for 30 to 50 minutes.
16Brush with beaten egg.
17Add any desired toppings.
18Bake in 375 deg.
19Oven for 15 to 22 minutes
