Capirotada - bread pudding

Ingredients:
8 Slices Toasted Bread
2 cupWater
1 cupSugar
1 tspCinnamon
1/2 tspNutmeg
1/2 tspCloves
1/4 tspSalt
1 1/2 cupGrated Cheddar
1 1/2 cupRaisins
2 tbspButter
1 Whipped Cream (Optional)
Procedures:
1Toast the sliced bread, break into 2" pieces.
2Make a syrup of water, sugar, spices and salt.
3Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
4Butter an oblong baking pan.
5Layer bread, cheese, raisins and butter.
6Pour syrup over bread mixture and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until syrup is absorbed.
7May be served warm or cold.
8If served warm, top with whipped cream
